Khawaja Muhsin Bhat says about the surname Bhat
My full name is Khawaja Muhsin Nabi Bhat
Father: Gh Nabi Bhat
Grandfather: Khawaja Abdul Khalil Bhat
Great grandfather:Khawaja Md Abdullah Bhat
Great great gf: Khawaja Abdul Ghaffar Bhat
....
Khawaja Ab Gani Bhat
.
.(continued)
We have our own lands (Apple orchards now) at Anantnag since past 200 years. Our family is business family, all of my forefathers have been traders. We belong to Bhat caste and use Khawaja as title.
Our family usually marries in castes like Rather, Lone, Bhat, Wani, and Dar, but there is no hard and fast rule to marry within these castes only. But if someone wants to marry within lower castes, they face objections. For example, if I will tell my parents that I want to marry a girl who belongs to Kumar/Najar/Sheikh/Hajam/Chopan/Ahanger/ anyother lower caste,,,they will not accept.
Sometimes, parents also don't consent a marriage if a girl belongs to Sayyid castes because of some sort of incompatibility among Bhats and Sayyids, but here rejection is not that much strong as in case of lower castes Comment was made 4 years ago
Khawaja Muhsin Bhat says about the surname Bhat
Khawaja is a title, not a caste. Khawaja title is used by well off families who are mostly traders and have lands; it is also used to indicate some connection with sufis. Some Bhats in kashmir including my family use khawaja along with Bhat in the name. Comment was made 4 years ago

Vibhav Razdan says about the surname Razdan
Well i think some kashmiris who r saying that not all razdans are kashmiris, they dnt know anything..... Non kashmiris have surname Raizada not Razdan...every Razdan is a kashmiri pandit... Yes it can be true that may be he is not a full kashmiri due to his mother be of any other caste due to inter caste marriages but if he has a surname razdan that means his father and he himself is a kashmiri pandit. Suneel Raina says about the surname Raina
I believe Raina originally are rajputs as they were ruling in a Kashmir
They originally come from Rana but then in Kashmir they called Raina
Then in 14 th century when Kashmir got converted then very few families remained mostly Bhat so Raina etc all then known as Kashmiri Pandits
Then later some Raina converted to Sikhism
Last Hindu queen Kota Rani ,s brother name was Ravan Raina
Raina were then rajputs rulers of valley
Later know as Pandits in Kashmir who did not converted
