Ashok says about the surname partezi Sanjay ji while looking into the kauls.net I found partazi as asurname queer. Tej Gurkhoo\ Tikoo says about the surname Gurkhoo iwould like to add here is that gurkhoo is not a surname but a nick name we are actually kouls as can be ascertained by the statesubject certificates nd other related certificates of our grand father\elder uncle wherein it is written as Pt shanker koul[gurkhoo] nd Pt.ved lal koul [gurkhoo]respectively.The nick name [gurkhoo] was added when our grand parents shifted to thier new residence in another locality in Alikadal which was looked after till then by a watchman who was a gorkha as Sudeep has mentioned above and we being new to that locality people would recognise uus easily by gorkha instead of kouls

Ritesh says about the surname Wantoo Wantoo in Kashmiri is used for a hard walnut. It is impossible to get a full Kernel (GIRI) out of a hard walnut, even if it is broken into pieces. Some of the ancestor of this family must have been a top class miser and was compared to a 'Wont doon' (hard walnut). Thus was this nickname started to continue for generations.

Shabir says about the surname Pahalwan i had a friend from pahalwan family from sathu bar bar shah sgr. namely sunil.he used to say they were from safapora actually.
