Rakesh Kasba says about the surname Kasba Kasba (Kasb) is a derivative of Kaul (Koul) surname of Kashmiri Pandits (Hindus). Our Gotra is "Dat Dat Shalan Kosche". We are believed to be from Tahab, a town in Shopian District of Kashmir. One of our ancestors got a senior job in Govt. in Srinagar City, so migrated from Tahab Town (Kasba) and got this surname, it is believed.
