Vishal Raina says about the surname Raina I wanted to know the ancestry of Surname Raina and Reen. Some are saying 1. Raina is Kashmiri surname descended from one Raina family from Rainawari. 2. Raina is Sikh surname, they were brought by Sikh rulers. Can anyone help me refer any book where I can find the old ancestry of Surnames Raina and Reen. We are Saraswat Brahmins. My gotra is Agastya.My forefathers are from Chirah/Plandari / Bagh which are part of Pakistan. I wanted to know my roots . Why Raina is called Reen as well. Please help me. Ali says about the surname Bhat This Talat Butt is a clown who knows nothing. He thinks Kashmiri Muslims are descendants of jews/arabs. All these people Butt, Dar, Wani, Kaul, Mir, Lone, Raina are descendants of Kashmiri pandits. Kashmiris first accepted Islam from Hinduism in 14th century. I’m from Butt family living in Pakistani Punjab. Majority of people are facing identity crisis.

Vikram says about the surname Kala Kala Sir name people in Ganga Nagar are from Mushaffrabad area. BRAHMIN Sikh who converted after Guru Hargobind visit to Kashmir and later some went on converting to safe guard Kashmiri Brahmins in the valley. Kala in Ganganagar are there because they were alloted land by the government in Rajasthan as the Panjabi Sikhs didnot want people to settle there.

Raja Habib Jalib says about the surname Raina It is all mixed up as these mountain tribes were ruled by many dynasties and worked with many great rulers, I am not sure that any Poonchi Tribe came from Afganistan or any outside Tribes.
