the actual surname of punjabi's were mih.when our ancestors went out of station(out of kashmir)then other people(other than kashmiri pandits) would say that they are going to punjab(i don't know why they would say they are going to punjab).they often go out of station and like this other people would say us punjabi sahab.then our surname became punjabi.
