Ambar Jailkhani says Jailkhani surname is a direct descendant of the Kaul Surname. My Fathers (& hence my) surname is Jailkhani. My Grandfather wrote his surname as Kaul. The "Jailkhani" surname is rather rare, & I personally know of only 4 or 5 other families with this surname. We were not the first Jailkhanis, as one of our cousin families also uses Jailkhani as their surname from much earlier. Not sure how this surname came into being, but sounds recent. Wonder if all other Jailkhani's are of Kaul origin ?
