Good says The Tartar Zulkadar Khan (commonly named Zulzu) invaded Kashmir in 1305 A.D. slaughtered huge population nearly depopulating the Valley, set fire to the city of Srinagar and took 50,000 slaves including men, women and children. There were very few men from village Vishnupora (currently named Turkipora Village in Rajwar Tehsil of Kupwara District) who challenged Zulzu's forces to fight and preferred to give their heads rather than becoming slaves. The descendants of those killed while fighting have Turki surname and the village itself is now Turkipora.
