Arjun Sapru Dhar says To my knowledge, the Sapru people were a nomadic clan originally from Iran that moved across Asia in search of a good place to settle down. When they came to Kashmir, they were entranced by its sheer beauty and decided to settle down there. Saprus have their origins in Iran. It is my deduction that many Kashmiri Saprus also returned to Iran over time. An example of this can be seen in Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini, the first Supreme Leader of Iran, whose grandfather was Kashmiri.
