Pawan Durani says It is said that during Afghan rule one of the Kashmii pandit Minister was so brave that he rode his horse on a frozen dal lake, The Afghan Chief impressed upon by the bravery of The Kashmiri pandit's bravery gave him his own title ie DURANI and also fifted him a huge chunk of Land starting from one side of Dal lake to the other side till Gupkar which also included the present Oberai Hotel Premisis , this Land was called Durani baagh.
