Sanjay P Kaul says Dear Arun Bumchooth is a famous fruit , a varity of apple which grows in kashmir. we used to eat a lot as a fruit & as vegetable in kashmir.I had a classmate by this surname & i think his ancestors were either growers or traders of this fruit.

Seema Kachru says It sure is a fruit that Kashmiris cook, but it is a surname too, i know a few by this last name, they lived in Rainawari, Srinagar. But, i bet they must have changed it or was a nickname. But it sure is.....surprise surprise !!!
